Things you should read

Everyone should read this. Two Treatises of Government had a great influence on our founding fathers, and is marvelous reading. Our country was founded on ideas put forth in this document. Governments are created to protect our property (our lives liberty and possessions) let no one tell you otherwise. While your at it, read this. Common Sense by Thomas Paine, was published in 1776. I had an argument with a friend a few weeks ago (before I had read Common Sense, to my shame) about the origin of government, and how rebelling against government was defying God. After heated debate (which I handily won) I read my recently acquired copy, and found that all of my arguments were expressed in Paine's pamphlet. I was very proud of that.

This is from Three Panel Soul .I found it on BoingBoing today. It's pretty good, I've started reading them from the beginning. I thought this one was hilarious. :)

University Prof Harrassed for Using Tor

Professor Paul Cesarini was told by campus security and IT to stop using TOR (the anonymous web browser) and to stop teaching about it in class. Thankfully he refused to back down. Here is the story. And here is a link to TOR. It's slow but if you don't want people to know who you are or what you're doing (like me most of the time) it's worth it.
